ornate box turtle rescued!
This crazy turtle was haulin’ butt across my backyard a few days ago. I had no idea what kind of turtle it was or how to take care of it until I called the local turtle rescue organization. I was told it was an Ornate Box Turtle and that it is most likely female because the eyes weren’t red in color. Thankfully the turtle has been rescued and is living a better place! ...

kate's measurements
She is 10-25 percentile in both height and weight and 75 percentile in head size. This comes as no surprise to us since she’s been around these same ratios for a while. Her weight has gone down to a lower percentile range but it’s roughly the same.

animal noises
Kate is getting better and better at making different animal noises. It sure makes driving in the car less boring. She can do duck (her favorite), cat, dog, frog, and cow right now. It helps that she has a cat and two dogs at home.
two ear infections
Kate has two ear infections right now but she’s a trooper. The doc says they look really painful but Kate doesn’t seem to cry too much. I think she has a higher pain tolerance like her daddy. She also has lots of teeth now which makes her really happy because she can eat more cookies that way. I’ve been terrible at updating my tumblog as you can see from scrolling through the...

measurements!
Kate had her doctor’s appointment today for her 1 year checkup. She had 2 shots and has to come back for a flu shot in a few weeks. Here are her measurements: 50-75% in height (shocking!), 25% in weight (shocking!), and 75% in head size. Her previous measurements she was short and chubby and now these measurements are almost the opposite: normal-to-above-average in height and...
Kate's 1st
Thankfully Kate is too young to remember the craziness that happened on her birthday. This past weekend we celebrated Kate turning 1 year old by having lots of family over to the house. Unfortunately, we had an accident in the kitchen and had to call 911 about 45 minutes before everyone showed up. I won’t go into too many details here but needless to say it was one crazy birthday party. Most...

first steps
Not sure if this counts but Kate walked a few steps without holding on to anything while we were at her Aunt & Uncle’s house last night. She fell forward and used her arms to brace herself but it did seem like she was brave enough to try at least. Of course this was on a padded couch and not on the carpet or tile. Meanwhile she’s cruising around and can take maybe a step by...
